If you have something to say about any current issue concerning law and policy, please contact us about becoming a contributing writer! First though, please note the following requirements for writing and submitting an article…

Writing your article

Content: Any current issue concerning law and policy, but not legal advice.

Style: Journalistic, not academic.

Word limit: None.

References: Highlight the relevant text and attach a hyperlink to the relevant URL, not footnotes or any other referencing system.

Attribution: Please include a short attribution at the end of your submission in italics, e.g. who you are, what you do, what your particular area(s) of interest is in law and/or policy (please write in the third person).

Submitting your article

Once you have written your article, please email it to: info@lawspring.org.

As soon as practicable, we will let you know whether we will proceed to publication. If so, you may need to provide a revised draft, incorporating any comments we have made. Once the final draft of your article is ready, you will need to complete these last few steps to complete your submission:

  1. If you do not already have a Medium account, sign up.
  2. Email your Medium username to: tme.goodman@gmail.com.
  3. We will add you as a writer for LawSpring. Once you have been added as a writer to LawSpring, click on your avatar in the top right hand corner of the Medium homepage, then click “New story”.
  4. Copy & paste your submission (including its title) onto the page.
  5. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the page, click ‘Add to publication’, select ‘LawSpring’, then click ‘Add draft’.
  6. Once we have received your draft, it will be published when we have also received the illustration for your article from our illustrator. Unless you specify otherwise, your article will be shared on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, as well as Medium.

N.B. Once we have added you as a writer for LawSpring, you will only need to complete steps 3–6 for further submissions.

If you have any questions or issues concerning any of the above, please contact us: info@lawspring.org

Happy writing!
